Their world is
bigger out here.

More than exercise. A richer way to experience the world.

Body: Walking and exploring support physical activity, mobility, and healthy routines.

Mind: Sniffing, varied sights and sounds, and natural environments offer sensory and cognitive enrichment.

Connection: For dogs who enjoy other dogs, carefully managed pack experiences offer opportunities to practice social skills and build positive associations.

These are general canine welfare principles, not medical or behavioral treatment claims. Every dog is different; pace, terrain, weather, and pack fit matter.

First Adventure.
Trial & Training Hike.

Before joining regular group hikes, each dog begins with an introductory hike. We take time to get acquainted, introduce the environment at a comfortable pace, and see how your dog responds to the experience.

We observe leash manners, responsiveness to guidance, comfort around other dogs, energy level, and overall pack compatibility. This helps us decide whether group adventures are a good fit and how best to introduce your dog.

Pack-ready matters. Dogs must be well-socialized and comfortable around other dogs and people. A trial hike is an assessment and introduction, not a guarantee of acceptance or a substitute for individualized behavior training.

Before DEN,
there was Eastside Hounds.

Founded in 2009 by Lindsay Velez and Victorious Solomon, Eastside Hounds began with a simple idea: give dogs richer days through adventures, connection, and genuine care.

What started on the trails grew into DEN Urban Dog Retreat — a home for a much broader vision of canine wellness in Northeast Los Angeles.

Today, Eastside Hounds returns to its roots as the adventure-focused sister brand to DEN. Two expressions of the same belief: dogs deserve extraordinary lives.

Eastside Hounds is the original outdoor adventure company behind DEN Urban Dog Retreat. Today, we continue as DEN’s sister brand, specializing in pack hikes, outdoor adventures, and door-to-door service.
